The Times Higher Education (THE) publishes a ranking of the 1000 best universities in the world every year. The top 7 German universities are among the top 100:

Germany's most innovative university
In 2019, 23 German universities were selected by Reuters as one of the top 100 most innovative universities in Europe. Reuters compiled a ranking based on ten criteria, including the number of patent applications and the number of cited scientific publications. These are the three most important places:

German universities with the most Nobel Prize winners
So far, the Technical University of Munich has won 16 Nobel Prizes in physics, chemistry and medicine, and 14 each at Heidelberg University and Göttingen University.

Almost a quarter of the students at the Technical University of Munich come from abroad. According to the THE 2019 ranking, TUM has the highest proportion of international students at 24%.
